I bought a Costco pumpkin pie. It was big and delicious, just as I expected.
I was a typical man and thought, oh I don’t need to spend money on whipped cream. It can’t be that hard to whip by myself.
I went to the store to buy whipping cream, and I didn’t know which little carton to buy…. so I bought one of each. One was made of actual dairy cream, the other was made of vegetable oily cream (think Cool Whip).
I watched YouTube videos on how to whip cream, and it didn’t seem that hard, except I didn’t have a whisk. Also being a man, I thought, “Oh, I can just use a fork.”
After about 10 minutes of forking my whipping cream, I asked for advice, and a friend said, “maybe you can shake it.” So, I put it in my baby bottle and shook it up. I did two batches: the first batch you can see in this photo. It was more of a runny cream. Not quite whipped. The second batch, I shook it and then put it in the fridge overnight. It really firmed up! (I had another piece of pie for breakfast)
Moral of the story: making things from scratch is hard and usually turn out funny looking. I am just happy I gave up on trying to bake the pie and ordered one.
